In accordance with the principles of Open Science and with the University’s mission of public interest, and when compatible with intellectual property, privacy, and confidentiality rules, data are openly shared so as to favor their reuse and enable their verification by the scientific community. Any fraudulent research practice, such as the falsification, fabrication, plagiarism*, concealment, suppression or deliberate omission of results, and such as the acquisition of data by illegal means, is prohibited and may entail sanctions. Compliance with the legislation and regulations applicable to all University activities is mandatory. Particular attention should be paid to the rules concerning research on human beings, involving animals, and research leading to results with potential “dual-use*” applications, research involving the processing of personal data, and research involving artificial intelligence. All research must meet the conditions and requirements defined by the legislation and by the University, and must obtain the necessary authorizations in a timely manner. Authorship* rests upon the recognition of each person’s contributions to the production of research results, in accordance with the rules established by the scientific community. Only individuals who meet the criteria justifying authorship can legitimately be cited as authors. The University invites research teams to collectively discuss these criteria as soon as a project is launched, in order to ensure a fair and transparent acknowledgement of contributions. Impartiality is a principle that the University wishes to see implemented in all its missions and activities. It commits its members to guard against conflicts of interest*, that is, against any interference between personal interests and the impartial exercise of one’s functions. This principle aims to prevent any suspicion of partiality that could undermine the sound conduct of the University’s missions or its reputation, scientific quality, the validity of a decision or evaluation, or the independence of the research and education activities it pursues. Any person having ties that could lead to a conflict of interest is required to declare them in accordance with the procedure in force at the University. The supervision of students, interns, and research activities aims to favor the transmission of reliable knowledge and the development of competencies within an environment that fosters curiosity, the sharing of knowledge, and the independence of learners. Any person entrusted with supervision tasks has the responsibility of providing regular, high-quality support based on the principle of exemplarity*. Supervisors shall encourage initiative and originality while ensuring that all individuals retain full authorship* of their work. In the context of research supervision and student assessment, any close personal or family relationship constitutes a conflict of interest that the supervisor is required to declare so that it may be appropriately addressed. Quality aligns with the University’s requirements and expectations as apply across all of its activities.
