August 28 was a great day for the EMerald program, Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in georesources engineering, co-financed by the Erasmus + programme of the European Union, and coordinated by the University of Liege. Professor Eric Pirard, coordinator of the programme, first welcomed the representatives of the Partner Universities (University of Lorraine, Luleå University of Technology, Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg), for a consortium meeting. A job day was also organised for the students of the 4th cohort, before their graduation which took place on the same day.

During the graduation ceremony, nineteen students, of fifteen nationalites, were put forward. These young alumni first presented their master theses in 3 minutes, before being personally congratuled by their mentors. It was also an opportunity for them to be together a last time, before starting a new adventure. This cohort of students represents the first one to obtain a degree in EMerald as an EIT labelled program. The label given by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology is a prestigious one, which values the international and entrepreneurial dimensions of this master.

The EMerald program has just been refinanced by the European Union for four consecutive cohorts, and will welcome the new students in September 2018 at the University of Liege, for their first semester. The students will pursue their mobility pathway by joining the different universities : France, Sweden or Germany, then one of the four universities of the consortium their master thesis.
