BEHAVES: survey on well-being, harassment and discrimination in higher education
On the initiative of the Minister Valérie Glatigny (Higher Education and Scientific Research), the BEHAVES study (Bien-Être, Harcèlement et Violences dans l'Enseignement Supérieur) was launched on 15 February among students and staff of 41 higher education establishments (Universities, “Hautes Écoles”, “Écoles Supérieures des Arts”) in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
In line with the measures already taken to make campuses safe for all, the study aims to better understand the frequency and nature of harassment, violence and discrimination in higher education institutions, as well as to evaluate the measures currently in place to prevent and deal with them.
It is being carried out through an online survey. Responses are voluntary, confidential and anonymous.
The BEHAVES study is being conducted by Pr Fabienne Glowacz Research Unit ARCH (Adaptation, Resilience, Change) of the University of Liège (ULiège).
The results, expected by the end of 2023, will enable the development of recommendations to strengthen strategies to prevent and combat harassment, discrimination and violence in higher education and to create a safe and healthy learning environment for students and all staff members of higher education institutions.

Valérie Glatigny, Minister for Higher Education:
