Digital technology is an integral part of our daily lives, but its growing use raises major environmental, ethical and social issues. For example, from a purely ecological point of view, in 10 years, digital energy consumption has multiplied by 3, and digital generates a share of global CO₂ emissions equivalent to that of automobile traffic!

This digital "carbon" footprint could moreover triple by 2050 (if the digital transition takes the form of widespread digitization) - but could also be halved if we turned towards/chose a sober digital trajectory!

In addition to pollution, over-consumption of energy and electronic waste, indiscriminate digitization carries many other risks, including digital social fractures and negative impacts on our daily functioning and our health, both physical and mental...

ULiège signs the Responsible Digital Charter  

Signed by ULiège in November 2022, this charter aims to promote a more inclusive, ethical and environmentally-friendly digital environment. This approach is followed by nearly 400 signatory organizations in six European countries.
