ULiège Responsible Digital Roadmap

On October 15, 2025, the Board of Directors acknowledged ULiège's Responsible Digital Roadmap and approved its strategic axes. This document expresses the University's commitment to a responsible, sober and inclusive digital environment through 3 principles and 6 lines of action.

While the evolution of digital technology raises many hopes, it also raises many challenges, particularly in terms of inclusiveness, well-being, sovereignty and control, security and environmental impact.

To respond to these, the Roadmap defines an institutional strategy with the ambition of developing an intrinsically responsible digital and uses through three principles:

• Human IT : focused on real needs and appropriable by all users;
• Green IT: respectful of resources, with the smallest possible footprint;
• Sovereign IT: deliberate and robust, aiming for maximum institutional sovereignty.

On this basis, the Roadmap identifies priority actions based on six objectives:

1. Integrate the responsible digital approach into institutional strategy and implement a political body that takes responsibility for it.
2. Enable maximum extension, optimized operation and responsible management of IT equipment.
3. Align software strategies (acquisition and development) to facilitate use and rationalize tools.
4. Implement digital hygiene in data management (especially research data).
5. Raise awareness, inform and train the university community in the key issues of responsible digital use.
6. Formalize a digital watch, including risk analysis and cybersecurity.

Drawn up by the Digital Sobriety Advisor, with the Responsible Digital Steering Committee, in consultation with a wide range of players in the university ecosystem, the Roadmap is now available at on the myGovernance intranet (access reserved for the ULiège community).
