Biography
Graduated as Doctor in Veterinary Medicine in 2002, Benjamin Dewals directly embarked on an FNRS career as a Research Fellow in the Immunology-Vaccinology laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at ULiege. At the end of his doctoral thesis, in 2006 he obtained a position as FNRS Postdoctoral Research Fellow and carried out a two-year post-doctoral stay at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. In 2012, he obtained a mandate as an FNRS Research Associate and founded his research group in the Immunology-Vaccinology laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at ULiege. Benjamin Dewals was promoted Senior Research Associate of the FNRS and recently obtained a position as Lecturerfrom the ULiège in 2023. He is teaching animal parasitic diseases in animals and his research group mainly focuses on the consequences of virus/parasite co-infections on health, and aims to better understand how helminth parasites affect the immune system in the long term.
