Alain CARAPELLE has a master degree in Physics, a post master degree in Nuclear Sciences, an AESS and a Ph.D in Physics. His Ph.D thesis subject was the realization of new portable high resolution X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer using Silicon Drift Detector, custom electronic and algorithm allowed XRF coating thickness measurement down to 0.4 nm. He is working at Centre Spatial de Liège (resaerch center of University of Liège) since 1997. His field of expertise is radiation/XRF for space application. He was project manager for several ESA & EU projects: Gamma-ray densimeter for cryogenic slush mixture (ESA FLTP & FLPP), radiation induced signals in JUICE UVS & MAJIS instruments (ESA Prodex), Radiation Shielding of Composite Space Enclosures (SIDER EU FP7), radiation aspects for Modular Power BUS for space vehicles (MPBUS EU FP7)... He gives lectures on radiation effects in space (electronic and space engineer at master level).
