2025: Doctorat en Art de bâtir et urbanisme (UCLouvain)
Biography
Mélanie Horvath graduated as an Architect in 2019 from the Faculté d¿architecture, d¿ingénierie architecturale, d¿urbanisme de l¿UCLouvain (LOCI), with a specialisation in "Materiality and Eco-design". In 2020, she started a PhD thesis with a FRIA grant from the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS). Her thesis, entitled "New circular waste-based material for construction applications", is at the crossroads of three disciplines: materials science, architectural design and the environment. This interdisciplinary research focuses on the characterisation of this new material, the integration of circular economy principles in construction and the consideration of the environmental impact of the new material through the material's eco-selection method and life cycle analysis. She obtained her PhD in February 2025 and she is currently pursuing the development of this new material as a research fellow at ULiège, working with several research centres and industrial partners.
