Biographie

My research aims to elucidate linguistic phenomena that are difficult to understand from a synchronic perspective by employing a diachronic approach. Simultaneously, I analyze language systems formed by various factors from the viewpoint of complex systems. In particular, I focus on differences in language use due to human cognitive processes (semantic layering = semantic change). I hypothesize that "if specific cognitive mechanisms cause semantic changes, then the order of these changes can also be determined in accordance with the cognitive systems." Under this hypothesis (Cognitive Historical Linguistics), I analyze cognitive traces that serve as indicators of semantic change through both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Additionally, considering the concordance and discordance between individual and collective language use, I investigate the fundamental nature of language by analyzing the correlation between child language development and the diachronic changes in group language, under the hypothesis that "the process of language change can also be observed in children's language acquisition." In my diachronic research, I work with ancient languages, using surviving historical texts as primary sources. This necessitates careful attention to the differences between written and spoken language, as well as to philological and sociolinguistic issues.
