The Centre for Partnership and Development Cooperation (PACODEL)
Through its approach, the University of Liège has always wanted to implement quality partnerships with the institutions in the South. Since the 1950s, it has contributed to the establishment of several institutions in the countries in the South (notably: ESALQ, La Molina, the UNILU, the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop).
at ULiègeIn 2018
development cooperation represented...
- 150 ongoing projects in partnership with more than 30 countries
- more than 1000 students from a developing country
- 300 PhD students from a developing country
- hundreds of missions in a developing country
As a continuation of this tradition of cooperation, many partnerships are developed and coordinated by the PACODEL.
The latter has also set up an innovative platform in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It allows the University to reinforce existing bilateral relations, but also to forge new links and local partnerships (with both North and South actors).
The Platform, located on the premises of ERAIFT, studies openly as a first field of research and the theme of peri-urbanisation (relationship between rural and urban areas).
The PACODEL is also an administrative support for all mobility students, researchers, or for any project set-up in a southern country. Whether you are a student, professor or researcher from ULiège or from a southern country, possibilities for help, advice and support for finding funding are available.
