Advisor to the Rector on Environmental and Social Transition
Prof. Sybille MERTENS
Sybille Mertens has been the Advisor to the Rector on Environmental and Social Transition since 1st October 2022. In this capacity, she ensures that the University of Liège anticipates and participates in the environmental and social transition from a sustainability perspective, in all areas of the institution and in partnership with civil society and public decision-makers.
Sybille Mertens is a PhD in economics and a professor at the ULiège HEC School of Management. At the Centre for Social Economy, which she has been directing since 2020, she conducts research in the fields of social and cooperative entrepreneurship, sustainability financing and societal impact assessment. She also uses her expertise on the links between sustainability and economy in several associations, business committees and public institutions.
