A great success for the University of Liège, the CHU of Liège and the GRE-Liège during the 13th edition of the Belgian Energy and Environment Prize award ceremony held at the BEL on the Tour & Taxis site in Brussels on 7 June!
T
he EEEF plan for the energy renovation of the buildings of ULiège and the CHU of Liège in Sart Tilman, supported by the GRE-Liège, was indeed nominated in the "Sustainable Building Award" category and then received the special "Luminus Premium Partner Award".
This is a fine award that highlights one of the axes of the environmental policy of the University of Liège.
ULiège and the CHU de Liège are investing, with the support of the GRE-Liège, 32.5 million euros in the energy renovation of 11 buildings (200,000 m²) on the Sart Tilman campus.
These buildings of modernist architecture have a significant heritage value requiring special treatment. The energy savings are significant. They amount to 19,277 MWh of primary energy and 2,717 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year, i.e. a 35% reduction in heat consumption and a 13% reduction in electricity consumption.
The impacts of this ambitious project concern all aspects of sustainable development, be they environmental, economic, social or cultural.
