Born in Liège on January 25, 1917, Simone David obtained a doctorate in law from the University of Liège in 1941, with the highest distinction, and a licentiate in Social Sciences in 1942, also from the University of Liège.

n 1941, she took up the bar as a trainee lawyer under Bâtonnier Haversin de Lexhy.

In 1942, she became an assistant to Professor Paul Horion at the Faculty of Law, and a supervisor at the Centre Interfacultaire du Travail in 1948. A lecturer in 1957, she was appointed full professor at the Faculty of Law in 1961. From 1979 to 1980, she was Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences. She was made emeritus in 1984.

In 1963, she married Jean Constant, professor of criminal law and criminology at the University of Liège and public prosecutor of Liège, with whom she shared a taste for literature and culture.

On her death in 2003, the David Constant Fund was created on the basis of her testamentary dispositions.
