Laurent Mottron

Professor Laurent Mottron holds the Marcel and Rolande Gosselin Research Chair in Fundamental and Applied Cognitive Neuroscience of the Autism Spectrum at the Université de Montréal (Canada).

He obient his doctorate in medicine in 1980, followed by a Doctorate in Modern Letters in 1982 from the University of Tours (France). Laurent Mottron is one of the world's leading specialists in the behavioral, cognitive and emotional aspects of autism (h= 50; over 158 articles in scientific journals and books), and regularly publishes in leading journals in psychology, psychiatry and cognitive neuroscience (Annals of Neurology, Brain, Cognition, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London B Biological Sciences, Human Brain Mapping, Molecular Autism, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Neuropsychologia, Psychological Science ...).

Laurent Mottron has carried out pioneering scientific work on the particularities of perceptual and intellectual functioning in autism. He has developed a model of the psychological functioning of autism that is highly influential in both the theoretical understanding of autism and its clinical management. He is regularly invited to speak at prestigious international conferences and is listed in the world's top 10 autism researchers. He is or has been associate editor of several international scientific journals, including the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Autism, Cognitive Neuropsychology and the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders.

In addition to his influential academic work, Laurent Mottron also works extensively with people with autistic syndrome, making him a model researcher in terms of integrating scientific and clinical dimensions.
