fter obtaining a degree in Geographical Sciences at the University of Avignon, Carole Charavet turned to a medical field. "I graduated as a dentist from the University of Liège with the highest distinction. I then went on to specialize in Dentofacial Orthopaedics and Orthodontics with the highest distinction and then to a doctoral thesis in Dental Sciences entitled "Innovative orthodontic treatments assisted by piezoelectric surgery", in collaboration with the University of Boston and the University of Aix-Marseille where I spent several stays. The data collected in all these studies, from in vivo to the clinic, have contributed to the validation of piezocision: a new therapeutic tool in orthodontics that offers many possibilities, including the possibility of accelerating orthodontic treatments. This work has been recognized by research awards but also by international publications and conferences. At the same time, I have pursued a long life learning program with the award of several university degrees in the field of research (ULiège and UBordeaux). "

Teaching and clinical practice

"Currently, I am a lecturer in Orthodontics at the University of Liège and Head of Department in Dentofacial Orthopaedics at the University Hospital of Liège. My activities are focused on teaching in Master of Dental Sciences, Speech Therapy and Master of Specialization in Orthodontics. I also pursue an exclusive clinical practice in orthodontics from young children to adult patients in my department. I conduct innovative, translational and multidisciplinary clinical research and I am also involved in community services both nationally and internationally. Finally, I pursue a long life learning program with a University Certificate in "Pedagogical Development in Higher Education" (IFRES, ULiège) and a university diploma in the field of sleep apnea "Sleep and its pathology" (Sorbonne University). "

Articulation between teaching and research

"An university teacher is driven by the desire to pass on his knowledge to his students, to develop their critical thinking, to encourage their curiosity and creativity and finally to guide and support them along their journey. Medical education and practice act in close reciprocity, around a common trajectory. On the one hand, our daily medical practice nourishes and illustrates our teaching, which is thus intended to be continuously enriched and perfectly updated. On the other hand, teaching ensures that a critical view of this medical practice is maintained. Finally, this university hospital context guarantees a perfect articulation between teaching and clinical practice, a source of exchanges and interactions between teachers and students. "
