After studying medicine at the University of Liège, Marie-Françoise Dresse began a specialization in paediatrics at the University Hospital of Liège (CHU Liège).  During this time, she specialized in pediatric hemato-oncology by completing a three-year post-doctoral fellowship in the pediatric hematology department at Sainte-Justine Hospital of the University of Montreal. Upon her return, she joined the Department of Pediatrics of ULiège, with Professor Fernand Geubelle, while developing a collaboration with the Hematology Department of Professor Georges Fillet and then Professor Yves Beguin at the CHU Liège. It is in this service that children receiving a bone marrow transplant are transplanted.  Since 2019, she has been in charge of the pediatric hemato-oncology department, currently located at the Citadelle Hospital (Liège). Each year, it receives about fifty children newly diagnosed with tumours. It is integrated into international networks and programs of pediatric oncology research protocols. Her areas of interest are bone marrow transplants, hemoglobinopathies and pediatric hematology.

" My challenge for the coming years is to transfer the Pediatric Oncology Department of the University of Liège to the site of the Liège University Hospital in Sart Tilman, as soon as the Integrated Oncology Centre opens. This implementation will ensure that children with cancer continue to receive quality care, with access to cutting-edge research in a field of excellence. Students will also benefit from this grouping of the Pediatric Oncology Department at their teaching site. "

A dynamic in which the student is the major actor in his training

" My conception of the role of a university teacher is a multidisciplinary and interactive approach with students. The integration of my medical practice and experience into the teaching of hematology and pediatric oncology is an asset in sharing my knowledge in this field with students. "

" I wish to develop in students an integrative and critical mind so that they can make a diagnosis through the clinical examination of a child, supported by the contribution of new technologies.  My approach to teaching is therefore based on a dynamic where the student is the major actor in his or her teaching.
