Biography
Ngoc Duy NGUYEN was born in Vietnam and received his doctoral degree in Applied Physics from the University of Liège in 2004. During his Ph.D. thesis, he studied the electrical and opto-electrical properties of III-nitride semiconductors. He then joined the OLED project as a postdoctoral researcher (funding by the Euregio Meuse-Rhine INTERREG III programme, 2004-2006), focusing on the electrical characterization of organic light-emitting diodes as sources for general lighting purposes. From 2006 to 2010, he worked as a process engineer in epitaxial growth of SiGe at imec (Leuven, Belgium) where he developed novel deposition and doping schemes for advanced nanoelectronic devices. In 2010, he was appointed tenure-track assistant professor at the Physics Department of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Liège, and founded the group for Solid-state Physics, Interfaces and Nanostructures (SPIN), a laboratory affiliated to the CESAM Research Unit since 2016. He received tenure in 2013. His current research focuses mainly on the electrical and optical properties of semiconducting heterostructures and nanostructures, aiming at applications in the fields of energy harvesting, nanoelectronics and optoelectronics.
