Biography
Laura Gerday is a PhD student in English linguistics and literary studies at the University of Liège where she works in the postcolonial research centre CEREP. In January 2017, she embarked upon a project provisionally entitled "From the 'Postcolonial' to the 'Global': Identifying New Avatars of Postcolonialism in Linguistics and Literary Studies" which aims to bring to light what remains of the postcolonial agenda in these two academic disciplines in the so-called era of globalisation. To be more precise, she has been investigating the theoretical (dis)connections between world Englishes and English as a Lingua Franca on the one hand, postcolonial literary criticism and world literature on the other hand, by means of methods informed by the field of stylistics.
