Biography

Geoffrey Grandjean is Professor at the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Criminology of the University of Liège. He is the Deputy-Dean for Teaching during the academic year 2024-2025. Since 2022, he has also been an Associate researcher at the Law School of Sciences Po Paris. His research and teaching focus on political history and Belgian and European political institutions. He directs the Cahiers Mémoire et Politique and is a member of the editorial board of the journal Politics of the Low Countries. He was a Visiting Professor at the Sciences Po Paris Law School in 2017 and 2021 and at the Centre for Research on Justice and Conflict Resolution (Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas) in 2017. Between 2021 and 2024, he was President of the Belgian Political Science Association and served as President of the Department of Political Science from 2022 to 2024.

In addition to his academic activities, Geoffrey Grandjean is also involved in the City. Since 2023, he has been the Managing Director of the Presses Universitaires de Liège (and as such chairs the CARE of the same name within ULiège). He has chaired the Conseil de transmission de la mémoire since 2019 and sits as an effective member of the Conseil wallon de l'égalité entre hommes et femmes (since 2021). He is a member of the scientific committee of the Arenberg Foundation (since 2019).

He is finally active within the Cité through various associative commitments. Member of the jury of the Prix du livre politique and the selection committee of the Prix littéraire Paris-Liège, he is also an administrator and member of various non-profit organizations (Lis-moi qui tu es, Jubilacion, Société Royale - Le Bastion, Agora and Centre liégeois de Documentation archivistique). Between 2018 and 2021, he served as Secretary General of the Société Littéraire de Liège.

Passionate about old books, Geoffrey Grandjean has a degree in bookbinding, gilding and restoration (École des Arts et Métiers de Liège, 2012, Grande distinction). Bibliophile (strong interest in 19th century books), he has also been a member of the Société des Bibliophiles liégeois (seat no. 91) since 2017.
