Biography
Guillaume GRÉGOIRE holds a PhD in law and is a Chargé de Recherches F.R.S.-FNRS (Postdoctoral Researcher of the Belgian Fund for Scientific Research) in Economic Law and Legal Theory at of the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Criminology of the University of Liège. He was a F.R.S.-FNRS Research Fellow (2017-2021) and visiting researcher at the Centre for European Law at the University of Paris-Panthéon-Assas (2018) and at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich (2019). He received the Jean Carbonnier Prize from the Robert Badinter Institute for Studies and Research on Law and Justice (2024) and is currently eligible for an associate professorship (Maître de Conférence) in public law in France.
His research lies at the intersection of (public) economic law, the history of legal and economic thought, and political philosophy. Using both a comparative method and a contextual approach, he examines the legal organisation of the structures of production, labour, exchange, and wealth (re)distribution. Building on his previous research on the constitutionalisation of economic principles, he is currently conducting a postdoctoral project on the genealogy and institutions of economic democracy.
He is the author of La Constitution économique. Enquête sur les rapports entre économie, politique et droit (Classiques Garnier, 2025), L'économie de Karlsruhe. L'intégration européenne à l'épreuve du juge constitutionnel allemand (CRISP, 2021) and the co-editor of The Idea of Economic Constitution in Europe. Genealogy and Overview (Brill, 2022).
