iorgia Purcaro holds a degree in Food Science and Technology and a PhD in Food Science from the University of Udine (Italy). She spent her post-doctorate at the University of Messina. " I then specialized in advanced analytical techniques in separation science with the main aim of miniaturizing the sample preparation step and proving the reliability and robustness of advanced separation analytical tools."
In 2011, she was awarded an Italian scholarship for young scientists, which enabled her to become a research assistant at the University of Udine, working on food contaminants with advanced chromatographic techniques. She then went on to become R&D Manager at Chromaleont, where she led a team of researchers working on projects in close collaboration between the University and private companies. Driven by a desire to complete her training, she joined Dartmouth College (USA) to develop metabolomics data processing.
Giorgia Purcaro teaches analytical chemistry at the Agro-Bio Tech Faculty in Gembloux for students in the Bachelier en Bioingénierie and Master en Bioingénieur Chimie, Bio-Industries and Bioingénieur en gestion des forêts et des espaces naturels programs.
She wants to pass on to her students the passion and dedication she has for her work and research, giving them the basic knowledge and tools they need to think critically and approach any problem scientifically.
