iploma of HELMO-Gramme, Thierry Pironet completed his training with a DEC in Business Administration at UCL. He then began his career as a technical sales engineer with the Gauder Group. In 1998, he joined HEC Liège as a lecturer in applied sciences. In particular, he developed an online course for the on-line executive master in management. He also teaches an online course in foreign trade at HELMO. At the same time, he continued his training, obtaining a Certificat d'Aptitude Pédagogique (2002), a Master in Integrated Logistics (2003) and a Certificat d'Aptitude Pédagogique Approprié à l'Enseignement Supérieur (2004).
" Looking at my CV, I might appear to be an eternal student... with a teacher's eye. Indeed, on the one hand, I've always continued to specialize in my field of expertise and, on the other, I've taken several teaching courses. I am particularly attentive to the way in which a teacher motivates his audience, defines his objectives, transmits his message, manages remediation and evaluates his results. I'm also sensitive to the diversity of students' expectations, representations and modes of communication. That's why I try to offer a variety of learning methods: laboratories, online courses, courses in English, etc."
" In 2005, following the merger between HEC and the University of Liège, I was able to start a doctoral course and obtain a teaching load. " His doctoral thesis is the result of industrial partnerships and concerns transport optimization (loading and routing of vehicles over several periods with stochastic supply). His teaching areas include supply chain management, performance indicators, distribution network design, freight management, demand forecasting, as well as production, inventory and quality management.
A teacher and researcher, Thierry Pironet is also an expert for the "Lean and Green" label awarded by the Logistics in Wallonia competitiveness cluster, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions by transport and logistics companies.
Within the University, he wants to develop new course materials using information technology and in the English language. He is also in charge of the new Certificate in Sales, to become a Master's degree, aimed at career changers and young employees, to be organized in 2018-2019 at HEC Liège.
